Kendals was established in 1982 by Terry Brazier, who was trained in London having attended the London College of Furniture. The company, which originally began in Terry's garden shed with just two customers, now operates from a large purpose-built base and boasts a customer base of more than 6,500.

The acorn has been deliberately chosen as their emblem. Carved by Terry, it illustrates that the company is small enough to care and large enough to cope with a wide range and high volume of work.
